The Reddings Community Playgroup was first registered in 1975 and we have been providing high quality child care ever since. Our team of fully qualified and dedicated staff provide a safe, caring environment for children to play, learn and develop.

We have excellent premises consisting of a large hall with a kitchen and an outside grassed area and playground. The children learn through a variety of activities both inside and outdoors in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We provide activities and play experiences for all children depending on their age and stage of development.

Through our planned activities and themes we cover the areas of learning, stated in the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework. These areas are:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication & language
  • Physical development
  • Mathematics
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The Reddings Playgroup curriculum

We will encourage a particular focus on three main areas of the curriculum, designed by the playgroup staff to support children on their personal learning journeys.  The broad headings of our bespoke curriculum are Independence, Life skills and Experiences, and Communication and language.  To find out more about our intent, how we aim to implement the focuses and the impact the curriculum will have please click on this link The Reddings Playgroup curriculum 2024.

Our Committee

The Playgroup is a registered charity and is run by an elected committee. The committee is voted in at the AGM each year; this usually takes place in October. At least 40% of the committee must be parents/carers of children currently attending the playgroup.

There are a variety of roles such as Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Fund raising officer that need to be filled for the playgroup to run legally.

Being part of our committee is a fantastic way for you to get involved in your child’s playgroup
experience. Our committee meetings are short, informal, and give you the opportunity to share
your thoughts on fundraising, new resources and experiences for the children, and anything else
you can think of. It also involves, drinking tea and eating cake to help the process along!

You can find out more about the committee on the Charity Commission website

Partnership with other settings

At The Reddings Playgroup we work hard to make links with any other settings (e.g. playgroups, nurseries and childminders), that your child may attend. This means that we are all working together to provide the best learning experience and outcomes for your child.

Partnership with parents

We believe that children benefit most from early years education and care, when parents and settings work together in partnership.
We assign each child a key worker who we encourage parents to speak with regularly, especially when your child first starts.
We aim to involve you in your child’s playgroup experience as much as possible through:

> Regular newsletters, letters and other communications (such as emails and texts)
> Photographs of your child’s day (on your child’s Tapestry account)
> Sing and share events for parents/carers and grandparents
> Parent/Carer Chats
> Summer and Christmas fairs
> The Preschool leavers celebration event
